Arise City

Theology on the Ground

Gospel Centered

What is Arise City?

A gathering of church and lay leaders, urban missionaries, and missions-minded disciples of Christ, who desire a better understanding of the missional priorities for the urban context at home in the US and abroad. The summit will help identify theological imperatives and proven practices which lead to an enduring impact.

Arise City Summit Talking Points

What needs do we see?

Though there is a lot of good talk about taking the gospel to the city, we feel there is a great need to bring focus to holistically taking the gospel to marginal communities within cities.  These include:

  • Traditional inner city communities w/large working class African American, Hispanic, and mobile home park neighborhoods
  • Ethnic and class-integrated suburbs / urban areas

How can these needs be met?

The development of urban missionaries & missions teams to commit themselves to doing gospel missions in the following ways:

  • Planting urban churches
  • Existing churches launching urban gospel missions team in empowering, non-patronizing ways
  • Urban-focused para-church ministries

What are our core principles?

  • Life and meaningful community transformation is necessarily connected to the gospel & discipleship
  • Because the city is multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, and multi-generational, there should be a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, and multi-generational gospel movement in our cities, forging a profound unity & community in Jesus Christ

What is the focus of Arise City Summit

This year’s focus is the gospel & social justice, especially within the context of racial tensions and the need for racial reconciliation in the American church, while bringing vital solutions to the urban context.

How can you be part of it?

  • Have your leadership team, ministry leaders, and other missions-minded members attend the Summit
  • Spread the word!
  • Plan a post-summit processing session to review what was presented and how your church / ministry should respond; we would be happy to assist with this in any way we can.
